Nyantakyi could have been first black FIFA President - Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe

Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, a board member of Hearts of Oak, has expressed his belief that Kwesi Nyantakyi could have made history as the first black president of FIFA if not for the fallout from the Anas exposé.Speaking to Starr FM, Dr. Tamakloe stated, "Nyantakyi would have been the first black man to head FIFA if the Anas exposé hadn't happened."Kwesi Nyantakyi, a significant figure in African football, served as the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and held various influential positions within FIFA and CAF.His career took a dramatic turn following the release of the 2018 investigative piece by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which unveiled extensive corruption in Ghanaian football. The exposé, titled "Number 12," featured Nyantakyi allegedly accepting a bribe of $65,000 from undercover journalists posing as businessmen. The revelations led to his resignation from all football-related positions and a lifetime ban imposed by FIFA.Reflecting on Nyantakyi's downfall, Dr. Tamakloe lamented the lost opportunity for Africa to have representation at the highest levels of global football administration. He emphasised that Nyantakyi's potential leadership role in FIFA would have been a significant milestone for African football.Related
