Ghanaian officials lead the way in pioneering CAF VAR course

Four Ghanaian football officials are at the forefront of a landmark VAR (Video Assistant Referee) course organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.This inaugural training session is the first of its kind across all CAF zones, with the WAFU B zone taking the lead.The Ghanaian delegation includes two experienced FIFA referees, Rita Ama Nkansah Boateng and Julian Nii Akwa Nunoo, and two distinguished instructors: Emmanuella Aglago, a CAF-trained VAR instructor, and Alex Kotey, CAF Technical Instructor and head of referees at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).The course aims to elevate refereeing standards in the region by imparting the latest VAR techniques and practices.This initiative is part of CAF’s broader strategy to standardize and enhance officiating across Africa.Ghana’s active participation underscores its dedication to advancing football officiating and sets a precedent for other zones, contributing to a more consistent and reliable refereeing framework across CAF competitions.
