Ghana gear up for U-20 Women's World Cup with strong showing in friendlies

Black Princesses are primed and ready for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup according to their coach, Yussif Basigi.This confidence comes after two high-profile friendly matches played in Colombia.The Black Princesses started with a goalless draw against Mexico, but Basigi saw a clear improvement in their second match, a 2-2 draw against South Korea."They played very well," Basigi said, praising his team's ability to hold their own against strong competition.He acknowledged conceding two penalties as an area for focus but believes it provides valuable experience for the upcoming tournament where referees might be stricter with challenges.Overall, Basigi is confident the friendly matches have achieved their goal: "We are ready for the tournament. All that we were looking for in the team, we have seen it and it has given us hope that this team will live up to expectation."The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup kicks off this coming Saturday, August 31st and runs through September 22nd.Ghana open their campaign against Austria on September 2nd followed by matches against Japan and New Zealand.
