Hearts of Oak adopt University of Ghana Stadium as new home ground

Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak have chosen the University of Ghana Stadium as their new home ground following the sudden closure of the Accra Sports Stadium. The National Sports Authority (NSA) shut down the Accra Sports Stadium for maintenance after facing criticism over the poor condition of the pitch. This decision follows the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) withdrawal of approval for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to host national team matches, citing its failure to meet the standards for Category Three games.Hearts will now share the University of Ghana Stadium with Legon Cities, Dreams FC, and Accra Lions until the NSA completes renovations at the Accra Sports Stadium.Initially, the Phobians had planned to use the Baba Yara Stadium as their alternative home venue for the 2024-25 season. However, with the stadium deemed unavailable, they have opted for the Legon venue.Their next home game is scheduled against Bechem United on Sunday, September 21, 2024, as they search for their first win of the season.
