President Nana Akufo-Addo has lauded Parliament’s Democracy Cup initiative as an outstanding endeavour to commemorate 30 years of parliamentary democracy under the Fourth Republic.The inaugural Democracy Cup match is set to take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.The President's remarks came after the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on him last Friday in anticipation of the event.Akufo-Addo praised the initiative for its role in promoting democratic governance in Ghana.“The commitment that you have made to use it as a vehicle for encouraging popular support for democratic governance in Ghana is an excellent initiative. You are to be congratulated," President Akufo-Addo stated. "But just merely to reiterate my wholehearted support for this initiative, my congratulations to you for thinking up the idea, and that it's an idea that should last forever and ever and ever.
