Fenerbahce centre-back Alexander Djiku remains confident of success at the Turkish club ahead of the start of the new season. The former Turkey champions wrapped up preparations with a thumping 5-1 pre-season victory over English side Hull City on Thursday, July 18, 2024.Fenerbahce begins the season with a UEFA Champions League qualifier against Swiss outfit Lugano next week, with new manager Jose Mourinho taking charge of his first competitive game.Having come very close to winning the league last season, Djiku believes Fenerbahce can win laurels in the upcoming season.“When I came to this team last year, I was very happy to adapt quickly. Fenerbahçe is Turkey's biggest club," he told Fenerbahce TV."Although we had a good season, unfortunately, we could not win the championship. This year, we will try to do our best again. I tried to show my capacity. When I came from France last year, not many people knew me, but I knew myself and my capacity," he added.The 29-year-old joined the Yellow and Blue last summer from French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.
