Woman tasered by Belleville police after refusing to drop knife

Belleville police tasered a woman who they say refused to relinquish a knife on Monday afternoon. Officers were called to an apartment building in the city’s east end regarding a female with a knife around 2:20 p.m. Once on scene, police said they were confronted by a woman brandishing the knife and after numerous attempts to de-escalate the situation with communication, the female refused to relinquish the knife.   A Conductive Energy Weapon was deployed and the situation brought the incident to a safe conclusion, police said.
