Beyond the Headlines - Mayor’s Challenge for Bridge Hub

As we wait to hear more about a detox centre in Belleville, the city is pushing forward to try and generate more support and money for a homelessness hub. Mayor Neil Ellis has launched a challenge, supported by the United Way, to raise a quarter of a million dollars for the project at Alhambra Square. The city has already committed $4.4 million to the project and had been hoping for more provincial support, but time is running out to bring it online for the fall as planned. The central message of the campaign is simple, but powerful. Homelessness is hard....
