Cooling centres opened throughout Muskoka

Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, and Huntsville have opened the doors to some of its facilities to anyone needing a place to cool down. In Bracebridge: The municipal office at 1000 Taylor Court is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Bracebridge Fire Station 1 at 225 Taylor Rd. is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Bracebridge Sportsplex at 110 Clearbrook Trail is open Monday to Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday Bracebridge Library at 94 Manitoba St. is open Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. In Gravenhurst: The municipal office at 3-5 Pineridge Gate from 8 p.m. until 4 p.m. Monday to Friday The Gravenhurst Public Library is open Monday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday The Gravenhurst Centennial Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday In Huntsville: The Canada Summit Centre 20 Park Dr. is open Monday to Sunday from 6:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. The Active Living Centre at 20 Park Dr. (behind the Summit Centre) is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Huntsville Public Library at 7 Minerva St. E. is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday. "Residents are reminded to check on at-risk individuals, such as seniors and people with medical conditions, to ensure they are okay during the heat spell,” says Todd Clapp, community emergency management coordinator for the Gravenhurst Fire Department. Environment Canada has had Muskoka under a heat warning since Monday with the forecast suggesting it will not start cooling down until Thursday.
