Plans announced for 181 new childcare spaces in Northumberland County

The County of Northumberland has identified three geographic areas of need for child care, announcing plans to open 119 new spaces in Port Hope, 47 new spaces in Trent Hills, and 15 new spots in Cobourg. Northumberland County Council announced the new spaces Thursday, after receiving an update from its social services committee during Wednesday’s monthly council meeting. This expansion effort, funded in part by the federal and provincial governments, aims to address a shortage in the county, ensuring more families have access to quality care.
