Water levels will be higher this next week thanks to the “significant rainfall” the region received this past weekend. The Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a water safety bulletin for the Black, Burnt, Gull, Magnetawan, and Muskoka, Pickerel, Seguin and Severn River watersheds. Officials say low-lying areas may be impacted to various degrees and residents and visitors should be cautious around waterbodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets. The ministry also advises “extreme caution” around forest access roads, as washouts can easily make them impassible. The ministry says it’s closely monitoring the developing watershed conditions.
