RCMP in Lake Cowichan say two traffic stops have resulted in an active drug trafficking investigation and search warrants. The first stop happened in January near Youbou where drugs, cash and weapons were seized from a vehicle and resulted in charges for a 29-year-old Lake Cowichan resident. The second stop resulted in the seizure of more drugs and cash. A second man was taken into custody. Earlier this month Police and the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team executed two search warrants as part of the investigation. “Substance abuse and addiction has a hugely negative impact on our communities, and Lake Cowichan is not immune. We are committed to holding drug traffickers responsible, and we thank the public for reporting suspicious activities which have aided this important work,” said Constable Smith of the Lake Cowichan RCMP. Police say the investigation is ongoing and that anyone with information is asked to contact the Lake Cowichan RCMP at 250-749-6668.
