Cyber Incident at Cowichan Valley School District

The Cowichan Valley School District is investigating a cyber incident that has affected some of its systems and operations, including internet services and the district's website. SD 79 says it is investigating and taking all steps possible to contain the incident. The district released the following statement this afternoon: “On Tuesday June 25, the Cowichan Valley School District has been impacted by an is investigating a cyber incident. This incident has impacted some of our systems and operations, including our internet services and website. We are currently investigating and taking all steps possible to contain the incident. At this time, we have no indication that the incident has impacted the personal information of our students and families. We are working diligently, in conjunction with external experts, to investigate and contain the incident. We are committed to restoring normal operations as soon as possible, and will provide further updates as these efforts progress.” A district spokesperson says no further information is being released at this time.
