The District of Muskoka says a gas main was damaged on Bay St., near the sports field at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst. The Gravenhurst Fire Department arrived at the scene around noon on Wednesday and were soon joined by Enbridge Gas. The district says temporary repairs have been made allowing gas service to be restored. Fire has been cleared by Enbridge. The repair could take many hours and people are still asked to steer clear of the area and keep doors/windows closed. Thanks! — GravenhurstFIRE (@GravenhurstFIRE) June 26, 2024 "Emergencies are unpredictable, but our commitment to safety isn't," the district says in its June 28 "Bay and Beyond" project update. "Thanks to the swift response from our crews and partners, we managed the situation quickly and safely. Our projects are designed with preparedness in mind, ensuring that our teams are always ready to handle unforeseen incidents." With the break fixed, the district says work will continue on the first phase of the three-year infrastructure project at the wharf project after the Canada Day long weekend. Trisan Construction will be on scene until the fall working on an 800 m stretch along Bay St. between Steamship Bay Rd./North Muldrew Lake Rd. to the Greavette Rd. and Bay St. intersection.
