No, there won’t be any fireworks at this year’s Canada Day celebrations but a first-ever drone show will cap off the day instead. Two hundred drones will take to the sky at dusk on Monday (July 1, 2024) with a Canada Day theme, weather willing. For the best experience, attendees are encouraged to watch the show from Rivers Trail in Riverside Park. The drone show is presented by the City of Kamloops and supported by the Kamloops Multicultural Society and Browns Locksmith/Ray’s Lock and Key. Canada Day in the park will kick off with the Lions Club pancake breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Attendees are invited to the Rotary Bandshell for the multicultural flag parade, which begins at 10:45 a.m., Drum Canada at 11 a.m., and the opening ceremony from 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afterward, residents can spend the day wandering through the park, discovering local artisans, enjoying multicultural food, cooling off in the beer garden, and taking in a wide range of performances.
