Huge new recycling facility coming to Greater Napanee

Napanee will soon have a huge new recycling facility. Waste Management of Canada Corporation (“WM Canada”) has announced they are building two state-of-the-art recycling facilities in Ontario. One is in Greater Napanee and the other in Waterloo. Both sites are expected to be up and running by the end of 2025. Once complete, the highly automated facilities are expected to process approximately 30% of Ontario's total “Blue Box” volume.  The Ontario Blue Box Regulation, under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016, makes producers of packaging, paper and packaging-like products accountable for the recycling and end-of-life management of these materials,...
