Quinte Track & Field athletes shine out west

Three Quinte area Quinte Legion Lynx athletes produced a trio of medals at the Canadian U18 track and field championships in Calgary, Alberta this past weekend. The familiar names were out again, with Nicholson Catholic College's Sydney Johnson capturing gold in discus with a toss of 39.87 metres on her last throw to secure her first outdoor National Championship on Friday. Johnson also posted an 8th place finish in shot put. Also on Friday, Bayside Secondary's Josh Thomas secured a bronze medal in high jump with a leap of 1.87 metres.
