Some announcements are so big that they affect not only the future of one community but the entire region. That was the case yesterday, as Goodyear announced a $575 million investment to renovate and expand their plant in Napanee. It will add 200 jobs over the next 2-3 years and protect the existing 1,000 jobs while helping make the plant net zero for emissions by the year 2040. The feds provided $44.3 million from the Strategic Innovation Fund, and the province provided $20 million through Invest Ontario.
