Quinte West to consider water, wastewater rate changes next month

The City of Quinte West will consider proposed increases to its water and wastewater rates next month. At its meeting on Wednesday night, council poured over its new water and wastewater rate study. Council was presented with three options to consider including maintaining service level, reduce service level or keep rates low and risk service levels. To maintain service levels, the city would have to raise water and wastewater bills by 9.7 per cent.  It would work out to an additional $12/month, a staff report noted.  An average family of three would have a monthly bill of $135.
