The Bay of Quinte Yacht Club (BQYC) successfully hosted the 2024 Shark 24 Canadian Championships from July 12th to 14th. The event brought together 24 boats from across Ontario to compete for the Canadian Champion title. Peter Van and his crew aboard Jonathan Livingston Seagull from the Kingston Yacht Club claimed the top spot. Local sailor Peter Aker and his crew, sailing Tiger Niles, represented the BQYC and secured a fourth-place finish. Other top contenders included Freak On A Leash (RHYC) in second and Rampant (NOLSC) in third. Beyond the competitive spirit, the BQYC is committed to environmental sustainability.
