Visitors to Baikie Island should expect some parking lot closures over the next two months. The result will be an improved and relocated parking lot, and upgraded trails. The closures will be intermittent and will run until October 15. They will also affect the Raven Trail and may restrict access to the Island. They are needed so restoration work can be completed along with removing invasive plants, and planting native species. The City of Campbell River is taking the lead on the project and is working with the Rotary Club of Campbell River, Greenways Land Trust, Wei Wai Kum First Nation, BC Hydro and Campbellton Neighbourhood Association. Visitors are asked to follow all signage and traffic controls in place, and avoid visiting Baikie Island and using trails when requested. The post Baikie Island improvements will require some trail downtime appeared first on My Campbell River Now.
