A large police presence was visible on 13th Street on the weekend as part of an assault investigation. On Friday Aug. 23, 2024, around 7:15 p.m., members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit-BC (CFSEU) Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) were in Kamloops assisting with increased crime suppression and presence efforts when they located a victim with obvious injuries outside a home on the 1100-block of 13th Street. Based on the investigation that followed, assistance from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (SED ERT) was requested to clear the residence and remove its occupants. A police presence was visible on the block while a search warrant was obtained and executed. “Targeting those who are known to be part of the Kamloops drug trafficking scene continues to be a focus for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, as we work to suppress and reduce the violence and crime we know is associated to it,” said Supt.
