Cell phones, electronics will be restricted in schools this fall

As families get ready for kids to go back to school, the school district is reminding everyone about new rules for cell phones in classrooms. School District 72 will be following the new requirements from the Ministry of Education, which restrict the use of cell phones and personal digital devices. The Ministry says the new rules are for the safety and well-being of students, as well as creating a more focused learning environment. Elementary school students will not be allowed to use devices during school hours. Middle schoolers can only use them with permission from a teacher or principal. High school students can use them during breaks, but not during class without permission from a teacher or principal. More details about school-specific rules will be announced in September.
