North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP say several charges have been approved against a Greater Victoria man after he was held in police custody until Aug. 23. James Lamont was arrested on Aug. 19, after several search warrants were executed on South Vancouver Island on Mar. 12 and 19. According to police, the multijurisdictional drug investigation turned up roughly three kilograms of Fentanyl, two kilograms of suspected Methamphetamine, 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, and 40 litres of GHB. They say along with the drug seizure several weapons were found on the premises including six handguns, two 3D-printed 9mm handguns, body armour, and a taser. RCMP also seized over $240,000 in cash as well as 400 cartons of illegal cigarettes. It is estimated close to 25,000 street level drugs were seized in the search. Lamont faces possession charges for trafficking, possessing non-firearm, restricted firearm, and selling tobacco illegally. Two other men, and one woman, face similar charges including 38-year-old Grant Giles from the Fraser Valley, and 32-year-old from the Greater Victoria area and a 38-year-old woman from the Cowichan area.
