A wildfire reported yesterday near Cassidy has been designated out of control by the BC Wildfire Service. According to their website, the fire was discovered yesterday on the north bank of the Nanaimo River and is believed to be human-caused. There are currently four crews working on the fire, including two initial attack and two-unit crews responding to the blaze. BC Wildfire Services says no evacuation orders or alerts are in place yet, but they are monitoring the situation as it develops.
