Northumberland OPP charge contractor with fraud

Northumberland OPP has charged a 30-year-old contractor for allegedly defrauding a Brighton homeowner out of $30,000. Following a police investigation, Zachary Edwards of St. Catherines was charged with fraud over $5,000. In June, the complainant reported to police that $30,000 was paid to the contractor in Oct. 2022 to complete work at their home on Old Wooler Road. However, the individual discontinued, left existing renovations unfinished and their whereabouts was unknown to the caller, police said. Following an investigation, police issued a warrant and charged Edwards on Tuesday. He is to appear in Cobourg court at a future date....
