The local legal community is mourning the loss of longtime defence attorney and community advocate Ruth Roberts. Roberts, a proud member of the Bonn Law legal team passed away overnight following a battle with severe illness. Roberts was a Belleville criminal defence bar member for over 20 years, "advocating vigorously" for her clients, Hastings County Crown Attorney Lee Burgess said. "Ruth was a wonderful woman who truly cared about people," Burgess said. "The bar and the community at large will certainly remember her charm and her sense of humour.
