Today is Labour Day, a day to celebrate the contributions of working people to BC’s economy. That comes from Premier David Eby in a statement earlier today, saying workers are relied on to drive buses, teach kids, and take care of others in hospitals. “Workers make the goods we use, keep store shelves filled and provide the day-to-day services on which we all rely,” said Eby. He says organized labour helped make important working conditions such as eight-hour workdays, paid vacations, and statutory holidays. His statement also touched on hiring more nurses, teachers, construction workers, and other workers that can benefit the province. He adds they are aiming to build a province where no one is left behind. For the statement, click here.
