Meatballs and Mind Games fundraiser for Fairvern Long-Term Care Home

Friends of Fairvern is hosting a fundraiser to help the Fairvern Long Term Care Home and its residents.  The event is called Meatballs and Mind Games and will be at the Huntsville Royal Canadian Legion this Saturday night. (Sept. 21.) Brenda Greer, Friends of Fairvern executive member and fundraiser coordinator, says the event consists of an “authentic buffet style Italian dinner” followed by a show, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw. She says all the money raised goes towards anything the Fairvern Long Term Care Home and the residents might need that would enhance their lives. “Last month, we helped a resident purchase a wheelchair,” says Greer about the Friends of Fairvern. “Wheelchairs are very, very expensive, and sometimes they just need some extra funds to help with something like that.” She says they also have volunteers who help provide direct support to the residents. “They sometimes need help feeding, taking people to their hair appointments or down to the chapel for church services,” adds Greer. “Anything that the staff feel would benefit the residents.” Greer says they have sponsors from the local community supporting the event and want to ensure a good turnout. She says tickets are limited to 200 and can be purchased in person from the Canada Summitt Centre or online through the Algonquin Theatre.
