The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) continues its investigation into what Lake Cowichan RCMP is calling a homicide. Police attended a residence in the 7900 block of Cowichan Lake Road to conduct a property check for Tavis Cragg who was reported missing from Nanaimo on Sept. 3. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a body that was believed to be Cragg. The VIIMCU has taken over the investigation, and police say they have identified a suspect who has so far contacted and been very cooperative with RCMP. According to a media release, the file is still under investigation and no further comments will be shared, but anyone with information is asked to contact the VIIMCU hotline at 250-380-6211.
