Belleville council motion encourages fairness in policing costs

The provincial government is being urged by Belleville Council to provide a little extra financial support to the city for its policing work. Mayor Neil Ellis put a motion forward on Monday that was passed by council, with a couple of councillors voicing their approval. The province had announced last month that it would be reducing Ontario Provincial Police billing costs by $77 million to help offset major increases to the cost of contracts.
