The Dominican Republic: taste the flavours of history

The Dominican Republic is a fan-favourite among Canadians for many reasons – it boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and its vast landscape provides unlimited opportunities for adventure. For many travellers, however it’s the rich and diverse culinary flavours that speak to the country’s history and has them returning time and again. The indigenous Taíno population, along with Spanish and African populations have called this island home, the latter bringing with them new ingredients and cooking methods that have helped shape Dominican cuisine into what it is today. Discover the cultural gastronomy of the Dominican Republic, along with some traditional dishes that are staples in local communities.
