It’s been a great few years for Spider-Man fans, as quite a few new movies and games have been released. Many Marvel fans have always loved Peter Parker but we are quite happy that Miles Morales also got his time to shine. He appeared in the recent animated Spider-Verse movies and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offered the best of both worlds, as it combined Peter Parker’s adventures with those of Miles Morales as they worked together fighting Kraven the Hunter. Sadly, PC gamers didn’t get the chance to dive into this adventure when it came out in 2023, but now they get their chance as the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was recently released. For this short review, we’ll focus on the quality of the PC port, so we suggest reading our original in-depth review by clicking here. The reason we suggested reading our original review is that nothing has really changed content-wise. You’ll still get to play through the newest Spider-Man adventure with Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and you’re still treated to the same content. The main story was still as interesting to us as it was the first time, but we did sink a lot of hours into the side content as well. It was extremely satisfying to navigate the city, explore, complete a few side objectives, punch a few baddies in the face, and ultimately make our way back to the next main objective. There’s something zen-like to the experience while also offering the players a lot of action-packed content. In many ways, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s PC version could be considered the definitive version, thanks to its improved graphics. Sadly, even when you have the right setup, it also suffers from performance issues. Systems that are well above the recommended specs still suffer from regular crashes, frame drops, and other technical mishaps. A few patches have been released during our review period, but it sadly seems that not all issues have been resolved just yet. We, however, didn’t encounter that many issues after the first few patches were released. The game also has proper DualSense support, which is certainly a plus, making it more interesting to invest in a DualSense controller, as it provides a more immersive experience. Other ported Sony titles also have DualSense support on PC. Many of Sony’s ported games are Steam Deck verified, and we like putting this to the test. For the most part, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 does run properly on the Steam Deck, albeit with subpar graphical quality and frames per second that dip below 30. That being said, even though it might not run the smoothest, it is playable, and highly enjoyable on the go. Conclusion While the PC release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had some technical issues, it seems they are slowly being ironed out with new patches. Even so, this sequel is an amazing experience, especially if you’re a fan of the first Spider-Man game and Miles Morales’ adventures. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has never looked better, and with its engaging gameplay and interesting story, you’re all set for quite a few gaming sessions. We see no reason not to pick this one up if you’re a fan of Spider-Man.
