In a remarkable display of commitment to community welfare, the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME) in Auchi has carried out a free healthcare services to the people of Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. with over 500 people benefiting from the community welfare initiative The Commandant of NASEME Major General Oladele Arogundade, stated that the free medical outreach programme is a reflection of the Chief of Army Staff's dedication to enhancing civil-military relations and giving back to the host community. He said the primary goal of the programme is to improve the well-being of underprivileged individuals by offering them easy access to high-quality healthcare services.Recognizing the vital link between health and productivity, Major General Arogundade highlighted the significance of health security alongside physical security. He stressed that good health is essential for overall well-being and economic productivity, as individuals must be healthy to engage in daily activities such as farming and business.Partnering with the local government and Irrua Specialist Hospital, NASEME's medical outreach included services such as general consultations, free eye examinations, blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings, malaria tests, and the distribution of essential medications. Medical volunteers conducted diagnoses, treatments, and procedures, ensuring that patients received necessary care at no cost.Dr Sebastian Oiwoh, a medical consultant from Irrua Specialist Hospital, underscored the importance of educating communities on disease prevention and promoting personal hygiene practices. The outreach also aimed to raise awareness about handling threats posed by infectious diseases, aligning with government efforts to safeguard public health.Hon Marvelous Zibiri, Chairman of Etsako West Local Government, expressed gratitude to NASEME for their benevolent gesture and encouraged community members to take advantage of the free medical services. He pledged the local government's support in collaborating with NASEME to extend healthcare outreach to more communities in the future.The successful medical outreach, which included examinations and the distribution of medications, extended its services to the Auchi correctional center, demonstrating a commitment to holistic community health.
