Igogo Day outing: Preparations on top gear --- Dr Afolabi

By Sunday AfolayanPreparations for a befitting Igogo Ekiti Day celebrations have reached an advanced stage as different sub-committees set up to handle different activities have made tremendous progress in their areas of mandates as spelt out by the central committee. During a virtual meeting of stakeholders yesterday to assess strategies already mapped out, the Chairman of the Central Organising Committee, Dr. Williams Mobolaji Afolabi, expressed satisfaction that the 2024 edition of the annual fiesta promised to be memorable, giving the level of work done so far and the enthusiasm of committee members towards the programme. According to him, his committee is committed to working  with a modest budget by cutting expenses "drastically" without undermining the quality and basic objectives of the programme. He emphasised that in addition to bringing together sons and daughters of Igogo Ekiti from all walks of life and their associates for festivities, the outing's major aim to raise funds for the continuation of projects that could advance the social and  economic wellbeing of the ancient community throughout infrastructural development and youths empowerment, would be his policy thrust and rule of engagement. While emphasising that no community could attain a desired status with communal cooperation, Afolabi called on well meaning citizens, home and abroad, to see this programme as a clarion call to contribute their quotas for accelerated development that the sprawling town has been yearning for over the years. Speaking further, he charged the citizens, especially business owners and public spirited individuals, to advertise in the programme brochure to felicitate with the Onigogo of Igogo Ekiti and his Council Chiefs, saying this is another avenue to generate funds and assist the central committee to actualise the task.
