Deadpool & Wolverine is more fun than drink-driving a tortoise on Guy Fawkes (responsibly).  Ryan Reynolds plays Ryan Reynolds giddy about getting Deadpool to trilogy status.  I’m wary of the Reynolds joke train running out of steam, but he jumped in and out of the coal room to keep the wheels turning and at minimum get a sharp exhale out of my heavily deviated nostrils.  Hugh Jackman picks up his tenth cheque as our favourite X-Man, trying a fresh new version of the character where he's less lovable scumbag, and more actual piece of s**t.  Jackman is the true star of Deadpool & Wolverine, effortlessly sailing a genuinely emotional performance through a deep sea of homoerotic gags.  This bad boy serviced the fans more than if they weren’t into Marvel at all - there’s almost as many callbacks and cameos as there are tunes ripped straight off More FM.   Unfortunately, listening to the exposition was like waiting for mum to finish catching up with an old friend in the frozen section.  Who needs all this justification for seeing two bro’s™ jackknife someone in the downstairs?  Luckily it was saved by having more action than I’ve ever seen as a 28-year-old amateur cinephile.    For new-gen Marvel, this was a good time.  6.5/10
