TikTok Banned for a Year in Albania

TikTok is facing a ban on its operations in the United States starting next year after it was allegedly used to spy on residents by China. They are now asking the Supreme Court to hear their appeal again. But in Albania, TikTok will also be banned for a year next month for different reasons.The ban was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, because TikTok is accused of spreading content that promotes violence and cyberbullying among children. In an incident last November, a 14-year-old teenager was stabbed to death allegedly due to a dispute that started on TikTok.TikTok has already asked the Albanian government for an explanation about the ban imposed. According to them, there is no evidence that the victim and the perpetrator of the crime had TikTok accounts. In fact, the original video was uploaded to another social media site and not TikTok.The movement to ban TikTok was started by India in 2019 after a clash between the country's troops and China on the Himalayan border. Then recently, Canada followed the United States in banning operations on national security grounds.
