Heya. Was wondering today on what you all think about how an engine should be started. Reason being, I have an oil filter relocation kit and external oil cooler. When the car is turned off, eventually all of the oil just drains back down into the sump, which means when you let the starter do it's job it'll take the engine a moment to build oil pressure. Longer than in stock condition anyway. The way I did it so far was just crank the engine until the oil pressure switch flips over and then I let go of the throttle so the ECU starts injecting fuel. Now the thing I wonder about, is this actually worse for the bearings? Because honestly the bearings are the only reason I ever thought of doing it this way, but if they keep getting dry-spun for 20 seconds before startup it might actually be worse than just starting the engine right away. Thoughts? Anyone got some technical details on this perhaps?
