Russian Attack on Ukraine Injures at Least 29

Russia launched several missiles and drones late Saturday and early Sunday targeting northern and eastern Ukraine, wounding at least 29 people, the Ukrainian military and local authorities said Sunday (8/25). The strikes targeted Ukraine's frontline areas of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk, the Ukrainian air force said on the Telegram messaging app. Russia has pounded Ukraine's border region with strikes, and Kyiv said its surprise incursion earlier this month into Russia's Kursk region was aimed at denying Moscow the ability to launch such an attack. “Most of the missiles did not reach their targets,” the Ukrainian air force said, adding that Russia launched Iskander-M ballistic missiles, Iskander-K cruise missiles and six guided air-to-air missiles. It did not say how many missiles were destroyed. A missile attack in the northern region of Sumy killed one person and injured at least 16 others, including three children, local authorities said on Telegram. Oleh Sinehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region in eastern Ukraine, posted on Telegram that at least 13 people were injured in the Russian attack, including a 4-year-old child.
