Stree 2 Makes Waves on Independence Day: Revisiting 5 Major Bollywood Box Office Hits

Stree 2 is set to dominate the Independence Day weekend with a 50% share of multiplex screenings. This horror-comedy sequel is poised to outperform Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa due to high demand from moviegoers. Shows are filling up quickly, making Stree 2 the top choice for both exhibitors and audiences." Akshay Kumar faces a challenging weekend at the box office, with his new film, Khel Khel Mein, struggling in advance ticket sales compared to Independence Day competitors Stree 2 and Vedaa.  The horror-comedy sequel, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is anticipated to achieve significant numbers this weekend, outpacing the other two films in advance sales. Meanwhile, Khel Khel Mein also trails behind Vedaa, the third major release of the week, starring John Abraham. Data from industry tracker Sacnilk indicates that Khel Khel Mein has a more limited release compared to Stree 2 and Vedaa. Stree 2 boasts over six times as many screenings nationwide, and Vedaa has double the number of shows as Khel Khel Mein. Featuring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan, Khel Khel Mein has sold fewer than 6,000 tickets for its opening day, translating to Rs 23 lakh in box office earnings.
