Mumbai Police Appeal to the Public in Heavy Rainfall

Heavy rainfall is currently affecting several areas in Mumbai. In response, the Mumbai Police have urged the public to avoid coastal areas. They have also advised that people should stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. The rain has caused waterlogging, which has disrupted traffic. The Mumbai Police made this appeal on 'X,' stating, "Considering the heavy rainfall in Mumbai, citizens are advised to stay away from coastal areas and only leave home if essential. Please exercise caution and dial 100 in case of an emergency." Reasons for Advising to Stay Away from Coastal Areas:Due to the pleasant weather, tourists are arriving in Mumbai and visiting various tourist spots, including coastal areas like Nariman Point and Marine Drive, which often attract crowds. However, visiting seaside areas during adverse weather conditions poses risks. Therefore, local authorities and police are advising people to avoid these areas. In Mumbai, 326 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded over the past three days. On Saturday, a subway in the Andheri area was inundated with water and had to be closed. Additionally, a portion of a residential building in another area collapsed, resulting in the death of an elderly woman. Waterlogging also occurred on the Western Express Highway, and low-lying areas in Ville Parle were submerged. The forecast suggests that this rainy condition may continue, prompting advisories for people to exercise caution. On July 20, the Colaba Observatory recorded 111 millimeters of rain, while the Santacruz Observatory measured 93 millimeters. READ MORE -  Strategies for Living to the Fullest
