A total of 180 referees and assistant referees from the Northern Zone have completed mandatory fitness tests and written examinations, marking the first step in the selection process for the upcoming 2024-25 football season.The rigorous evaluation took place in Kumasi on Saturday, August 10, and covered officials from the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Upper East, Upper West, and Northern regions.Those who pass the selection process will be eligible to officiate matches in Ghana’s top-tier leagues, including the Ghana Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, and Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.The GFA has implemented these stringent requirements in line with FIFA standards to ensure the highest level of officiating in the country.The Southern Zone, comprising Greater Accra, Volta, Central, Western, and Eastern regions, will undergo similar assessments in Cape Coast between August 16 and 17.
