Kwesi Appiah reveals Ghana wanted a repeat of 2010 success at 2014 World Cup

Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has disclosed that the Black Stars were fully prepared, both mentally and physically, to replicate their historic 2010 World Cup performance during the 2014 tournament in Brazil.Ghana, who made history by reaching the quarterfinals in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, had high hopes of repeating that success in 2014.However, the team was eliminated in the group stage after securing just one point from three matches.In an interview with FIFA Media, Appiah reflected on the team's ambitions and the fine margins that led to their early exit."Ghana wanted a repeat of 2010 when they reached the quarter-finals, and we were physically and mentally ready for the 2014 edition," Appiah said. "However, it came down to small details, and we didn’t go as far as we’d hoped."Appiah was dismissed following the Black Stars' disappointing performance in Brazil.The team's early exit was also marred by controversies, including issues with the timely payment of winning bonuses and disciplinary problems that were believed to have caused divisions within the squad.
