U20 Women's World Cup: Black Princesses coach Yussif Basigi cautions players on reckless tackles ahead of tournament

Ghana's U20 Women's national team coach, Yussif Basigi, has urged his players to be mindful of their tackles following a 2-2 draw against South Korea in a pre-tournament friendly. The team conceded two penalties in the match, which denied them a win.Basigi expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting an improvement from their goalless draw against Mexico in the first friendly match. However, he emphasised the need for caution with tackles, citing the risk of penalties being awarded by referees protecting players."We are ready for the tournament, and all that we were looking for in the team, we have seen it," Basigi said. "Conceding two penalties is a worry, but it gives us a fair idea of what to expect in the main tournament."The team is currently in Colombia preparing for the 2024 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup, which kicks off on August 31. Ghana will face Austria on September 2, followed by matches against New Zealand and Japan in Group E.In related news, Stella Nyamekye has been named the team's new captain. The Black Princesses will look to build on their promising performances in the friendly matches as they head into the tournament.
