Ghana coach Otto Addo explains Forson Amankwah's absence from AFCON qualifiers

Ghana coach Otto Addo has explained the omission of Norwich City midfielder Forson Amankwah from the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.Despite Amankwah’s impressive start at Norwich, where he has registered two assists in five games, he was left out of the Black Stars' midfield.Addo clarified that Amankwah’s absence is due to a recent shoulder injury sustained in his last match."He injured himself in the last game," Addo said, noting the unfortunate timing of the setback.Despite the injury, Addo reassured fans that Amankwah remains a key player in the national team’s plans."My assistant coach Joseph Laumann is in contact with him,"he added, highlighting the close monitoring of Amankwah’s recovery.Tests have confirmed that Amankwah won’t need surgery, and he is expected to resume training later this week.Depending on his progress, he could play for Norwich against Coventry City on Saturday.While he won't feature in this round of qualifiers, Addo hinted at a possible future call-up."He will be on standby this time, but maybe he will come next time," Addo said, keeping the door open for the young midfielder.
