Hastings County supports EOWC resolution on tariffs

Hastings County will support a resolution from the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus to support provincial and federal measures in response to United States-imposed tariffs. Council approved the resolution at Thursday’s meeting without discussion, which asks that the Canadian and Ontario governments take measures to protect the interests of Ontario in any upcoming trade negotiations, and ensure municipalities are part of the coordinated Team Canada approach. As part of the resolution, council is also requesting Canadian and Ontario governments remove any impediments to municipalities preferring Canadian companies and services for capital projects and other supplies.
