Hastings County is seeing positive returns on homelessness prevention funding applications. County CAO Connor Dorey informed council at its meeting on Tuesday that two funding applications submitted by the County have been approved through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The approvals include $562,500 for an Encampment Response initiative focused on a shelter solution in the Bancroft area and $375,000 in Last Mile Funding through a housing provider. The One-Time Shelter Expansion/Encampment Response Initiative Funding, funnelled through the Homelessness Prevention Program will be used to purchase land in Bancroft for a permanent location for the mobile unit currently used...
