Another heat warning in effect for East Vancouver Island

Another heat warning is in effect for East Vancouver Island. That comes from Environment and Climate Change Canada, saying the warning comes because of a ridge of high pressure bringing higher temperatures across the region. The warning applies from Campbell River to Duncan. For this warning, daytime highs will be near 29 degrees, while overnight lows will be in the mid-teens. This event comes following another heat event last week, which saw temperature highs near 30 degrees, while the lows were at the high teens. With these temperatures expected to last this week, local medical health officers and Environment Canada are expecting an increase in health and safety risks. To stay safe, they encourage you to check on family, friends, and neighbours at risk of heat illness, to not leave pets or children alone in a parked car, and to find a cool place to stay if overheated.
