Huntsville to conduct a housing Needs Assessment

The Town of Huntsville is investigating what it can do as a municipality to ensure much needed housing is built in the community. To address both the immediate need and those tied to continuing growth, the Town is conducting a housing Needs Assessment. Officials say the tool will document and review the housing situation in Huntsville and gain a common understanding of the need, demand and limitations of the exiting and projected housing supply. Mayor Nany Alcock says the challenge for municipalities is how to encourage a profit driven private sector development industry to include the construction of attainable rental and affordable housing in their business models. She says the survey's goal is to better understand the current housing landscape from all community members so they can consider barriers which may exist for housing. It's available on the town's website until Oct. 10th. The post Huntsville to conduct a housing Needs Assessment appeared first on My Muskoka Now.
