Those who believe Putin’s promises on peace watch to much of Russia Today, – Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated that Russia does not pursue an actual peace while Ukraine truly strives to achieve it and prevent future aggression. He said this as he was delivering a speech in the German Bundestag on June 26. "Those who believe that it [Putin's plan - ed.] will establish a long-lasting peace in Europe probably have been watching too much of Russia Roday," Scholz pointed out. He emphasized that Russia will not beat Ukraine on the battlefield but the path to the peace will take a lot of time. Still, having arranged the Peace Summit in Switzerland, Ukraine showed it was on the right track. Sholz said it was wise to present general humanitarian issues to reach a rather wide consensus among the world leaders and engage with more countries. Previously, Vladimir Putin offered an ultimatum, also named as a 'surrender plan' by some politicians, to Ukraine. According to him, Russia is ready for a ceasefire and negotiations if Ukraine withdraws its troops from the occupied Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Putin revealed his plan ahead of the Peace Summit in an attempt to compromise it.
